Asian Superstar BoA starts production on new film COBU 3D
Production has begun on the dance love story COBU 3D, which is being directed and written by Duane Adler (screenwriter of two of the highest grossing dance films, SAVE THE LAST DANCE and STEP UP) and produced by Robert Cort (MR. HOLLAND’S OPUS, RUNAWAY BRIDE, SAVE THE LAST DANCE) and Korea’s CJ Entertainment and SM Entertainment. Making their feature film acting debuts, the film stars BoA, Asia’s leading performer and recording artist having sold more than 20 million records in Korea and Japan alone, and Derek Hough, the current reigning and three-time champion of ABC’s Dancing With The Stars, who’s credits include the critically acclaimed starring role in Footloose: The Musical in London’s West End.
A fresh and energized take on the classic romance of star-crossed lovers set in the club-land of New York, BoA and Hough play dancers from different worlds whose Romeo-and-Juliet romance is threatened by the dangerous rivalry between their brothers’ competing clubs in New York City’s underground dance scene.
COBU 3D follows talented young performer Donny (Hough) as he heads to New York to join his brother Nick in running the city’s hottest club –a showcase for the next generation of explosive dancers from around the globe. Donny is blown away when he meets Aya (BoA), an elegant dancer whose sexy moves complement his own, and whose fusion of tap, hip hop and taiko drumming creates a style unlike anything he’s ever imagined. But Aya turns out to be the sister of Nick’s enemy, who owns the rival dance club. As Donny and Aya fall in love, the competition between the brothers intensifies: Donny must choose between the girl of his dreams and loyalty to his brother, and make real decisions for the first time in his life.
Golden Village Pictures is proud to be the distributor of COBU 3D. The film is slated for release in the first half of 2012. Golden Village Pictures is proud to be the Singapore distributor of COBU 3D. The film is slated for release in the first half of 2012.

The Watershed Election - Our miserable two cents
Congrats to the brave good folks of the Worker's Party for scoring a GRC and retaining the SMC. Not forgettting the 'slum' people of Hougang and Aljunied for being so united.
Pity the PAP lost such an intelligent, gracious Minister, Mr George Yeo - the right man in the wrong place. Ironically some undeserving people went in or are still around. We salute you!
Mr Chiam See Tong despite losing his seat in parliament after 27 dedicated years as an opposition deserved a National award or something. He is a FIGHTER and a protector of Singapore!
Rethink? Regroup? Replan? Now it's in the hands of the winners to layout our future for the next 5 years.
Summer is waiting and it's back to the movies for us!

Production Of 2359 Officially Commences
The title of the movie is inspired by the term “2359” which is commonly used in the army to represent the last minute before midnight. As the story goes, the creepiest time of the day is at the stroke of midnight, and whoever dies at that time will not rest in peace and their spirit will stay in the mortal world to seek revenge. 2359 is based on a true story that happened in Pulau Tekong in 1983. During his national service, Jeremy’s platoon mates started bizarrely dying one by one, and each time, an old lady always appears where the bodies are discovered. Jeremy starts an investigation into the deaths and the old lady, and discovers a dark and horrible secret of the island…
The movie is slated for theatrical release in both Singapore and Malaysia at the end of the year.
$20 mil and 7 months later, SHAW LIDO is finally open!
Last year, one of the most iconic cinemas in Singapore closed its doors for a $20mil makeover- and after a special preview of the new refurbished Shaw Lido, we're proud to say that the old dame is new once again, and has never been better. Instead of 8 halls, there are now a total of 11 halls (including the centrepiece IMAX theatre); and instead of 2,238 seats, there are now 1,960 seats (which also means more leg-space).
How does the new and old Lido compare? Well, for starters, the box office is right in front of the glass doors of the escalator leading up to Level 5. The area where the box office counters used to be and the benches in front of the giant screen in the lobby has been converted into the lobby where you can sit around on sofas while you wait for your movie to begin.
In terms of the cinemas, the giant Lido 1 has been converted into the IMAX theatre, and its upper floors now house Lido 2 and 3. The former Lido 2 has been renumbered Lido 1 and the new Lidos 1, 2 and 3 are accessible via the sixth floor.
Lido 4 occupies the former Lido 3, while Lidos 5 - 10 are in the former no-gradient halls of Lido 5 - 7 and Lido Classics. There is also an electronic board before the hallway leading to the various halls which tells you when the hall is ready for seating. Of these 10 halls, 6 are digitally equipped with RealD 3D, the best 3D projection technology short of the IMAX theatre.
But of course, the biggest attraction is no doubt the first and only IMAX theatre in Singapore! Boasting laser-aligned digital sound, optical image sensors, and an immersive theatre geometry (the screen is curved and titled towards the audience), it promises to revolutionise the movie-going experience by allowing audiences to fully enjoy how filmmakers want their movie to be seen. The IMAX theatre has a seating capacity of 421 for a 2D presentation, and 319 for a 3D presentation (the seats at the side will be blocked off to ensure an optimum viewing experience).
IMAX 2D movies are priced at $20 and $17 on peak (Fri-Sun and PHs and eve of PH) and off-peak (Mon-Thu) respectively; while 3D movies will cost $22 and $19. If you're wondering what the extra cost is for, it goes into the process of converting the standard print by Digital Remastering into an IMAX DMR format. 3D projection is also done from two projectors (one for each eye), unlike the standard 3D presentation in regular halls from just one camera. Trust us on this one- the IMAX 3D is superb and amazing!
The 10 regular halls will open on 5 May 2011, while Lido IMAX will open on 19 May 2011 with Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides in IMAX 3D. Other upcoming IMAX titles include Kung Fu Panda 2, Super 8, Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.
Welcome to a new era of cinema-going! For more opening promotions, check out http://bit.ly/lpFl9C. Have a great time at the new Shaw Lido!
