It was a wild ride that my team and I didn't expect and it felt great to be a big winner! We are very happy and very thankful that the Houston Int'l Film Festival and the Houston Film Critics Society have been so generous with their validation of our work," says Director Yong Mun Chee.

Where the Road Meets the Sun is a movie about four men whose lives intersect for a brief time in the city of Los Angeles. Takashi, a Japanese hit man, wakes up from a four-year coma and moves to LA to escape mysterious traumatic memories. He strikes an unusual friendship with Blake, the hotel manager who still mourns the loss of his wife to an affair he ended up regretting. Julio, an illegal immigrant, works at an Indian restaurant to provide for his wife and kid back in Mexico. He befriends Guy, a young British backpacker who lives off his estranged father's ATM card and sleeps with any girl who crosses his path. The film intercuts between the blossoming of these two friendships. Takashi attempts to help Blake break from his past, but in the process is forced to confront his own violent memories. Julio and Guy hustle for day-to-day survival and forge dreams of a better future, but after Julio steals Guy's passport and sells it, not only is their friendship at stake but also their lives. What follows are the wild times and often gut-wrenching adventures of four men trying to survive both emotionally and physically.
Written and directed by Yong Mun Chee and produced by Big Machine Films, with funding from the Singapore Film Commission's New Feature Film Fund, the film stars Eric Mabius (Ugly Betty), Will Yun Lee (Hawaii Five-0; The King of Fighters), Luke Brandon Field and Fernando Noriega. Golden Village Pictures is proud to be the Singapore distributor for Where the Road Meets the Sun. The release date is yet to be confirmed at press time.

CRAZY, STUPID, LOVE - 4 August 2011
At fortysomething, straight-laced Cal Weaver (Steve Carell) is living the dream-good job, nice house, great kids and marriage to his high school sweetheart. But when Cal learns that his wife, Emily (Julianne Moore), has cheated on him and wants a divorce, his "perfect" life quickly unravels. Worse, in today's single world, Cal, who hasn't dated in decades, stands out as the epitome of un-smooth. Now spending his free evenings sulking alone at a local bar, the hapless Cal is taken on as wingman and protégé to handsome, thirtysomething player Jacob Palmer (Ryan Gosling). In an effort to help Cal get over his wife and start living his life, Jacob opens Cal's eyes to the many options before him: flirty women, manly drinks and a sense of style that can't be found at Supercuts or The Gap. Cal and Emily aren't the only ones looking for love in what might be all the wrong places: Cal's 13-year-old son, Robbie, is crazy about his 17-year-old babysitter, Jessica, who harbors a crush on Cal. And despite Cal's makeover and his many new conquests, the one thing that can't be made over is his heart, which seems to keep leading him back to where he began.

Red Dragonflies Flies To Filmgarde's Illuma Cineplex
Liao Jiekai's award winning Red Dragonflies has been travelling the world since its World Premiere at the Hong Kong International Film Festival last year in March, and it's finally coming home to Singapore for a local screening. The Singapore Premiere will be on 14 April Thursday at the Southeast Asian Film Festival held at the Singapore Art Museum, with the director in attendance for a Q&A session, but it's already sold out.
Those unable to get tickets for that screening, fret not. Red Dragonflies has also scored a theatrical run exclusively at Filmgarde's Illuma cineplex at Bugis from 5th May 2011, which I believe marks the first time that a 13 Little Pictures produced film is getting a release in a mainstream commercial cinema.
Do lend your support to a homegrown film screening at a homegrown cineplex!

Announcement Of New Movie Project - The Wedding Diary
movie project - The Wedding Diary 《结婚那件事》. The Wedding Diary is a fun and witty parody that attempts to make a mockery of the entire wedding process in a light-hearted and comedic manner, from the chaotic wedding preparations involving more family members than one would wish to, to the topsy-turvy giddiness of the actual event, the faux pas of the wedding guests, and more!
The Wedding Diary is directed by Adrian Teh (郑建国) with screenplay by Rebecca Leow (洪汐), and brings together popular local and regional artistes, with Malaysian singer-actor Aniu (阿牛-陈庆祥) and Hong Kong’s up-and-coming singer-actress Elanne Kwong(江若琳)taking on the lead roles as the prospective couple. The supporting cast will be announced shortly.
The Wedding Diary tells the story of a couple, Wei Jie and Tina (played by Aniu and Elanne Kwong respectively), who decides to get married. Wei Jie is an engineer working in Singapore, who comes from a humble Hokkien Malaysian family, while his wife-to-be Tina, comes from a well-to-do Cantonese Singaporean family. What follows the happy decision to tie the knot is a series of problems involving both families - the disparity in perceived wealth and the countless differences between Singaporean and Malaysian, Hokkien and Cantonese cultures, such that preparations for the wedding almost comes to a standstill. In a show of sincerity and commitment to his demanding parents-in-law to be, Wei Jie agrees to hold an extravagant and lavish wedding banquet in Singapore. On the wedding day, Wei Jie discovers that most of the red packets he has planned to use to foot the bill have gone missing! Out of desperation, he heads to the nearby casino to try his luck and ends up losing more money. As he makes up one lie after another to cover up his problems, Tina starts to have suspicions about his fidelity and honesty. He quarrels with his father over the wedding arrangements and in a pique, his father leaves Singapore only to meet with a car accident on the way back to Penang. The happiest day in Wei Jie’s life is suddenly unfolding into what could be the most depressing… or is it?
The Wedding Diary will be filmed in Singapore and Penang, Malaysia. Production of the movie will commence end-April 2011, with its theatrical release slated for November 2011 in Singapore and Malaysia.
