First Look at Lelio Po Po - A Malaysian-Singaporean Comedy!

Clover Films Pte Ltd (maker of the 'acclaimed' Old Cow Tender Grass) is proud to announce a collaboration with Malaysia's Golden Screen Cinemas Sdn Bhd, Hwa Yea Multimedia (M) Sdn Bhd, Asia Tropical Films Sdn Bhd, Mega Cineplex Sdn Bhd to produce a Malaysian-Singaporean movie Lelio Po Po. The comedy, directed by first-time Malaysian director Adrian Teh, will feature popular personalities from both sides of the causeway. Director Adrian Teh was the producer for popular Malaysian singer-songwriter Aniu's recent box-office hit Ice Kacang Puppy Love. Lelio Po Po, with a budget of S$850,000, will commence filming on 21 August 2010 and is expected to hit cinemas in December 2010.

Movie Lelio Po Po will star Malaysia's immensely popular Chinese radio deejay duo KK and Ah Luke (above), who are better known as "K6", with their funny and wacky styles. The female lead is Mindee Ong, one of Singapore's top actresses, whose movie credits include box-office hits 881 and 12 Lotus. Joining the cast are Benjamin Heng, Alaric Tay and Jesse Teong, with a special appearance by one of Singapore's most well-loved comedians Henry Thia.

The movie title Lelio Po Po is derived from "po po", which means grandmother in Chinese, as the movie is about two down-and-out male deejays who disguise themselves as elderly ladies to get themselves a job on a new radio show. "We are also poking fun at how some of the elderly Chinese pronounce "radio" as "lelio", explained Tung. "The story is relevant to our Chinese community and has a lot of humour in it", added Tung, Senior Manager, Distribution of Golden Screen Cinemas Sdn Bhd .
