200 Pounds Beauty has opened at a strong number 2 at the Singapore box office

InnoForm Media and Shaw Organisation are proud to announce that the Korean romantic comedy 200 Pounds Beauty has opened at a strong number 2 at the Singapore box office, with more than S$270,000 last weekend.

The movie, which smashed the box office records for comedies in Korea when released last December, opened at the Singapore box office behind the Hollywood blockbuster Wild Hogs. For the past weekend, 200 Pounds Beauty collected $277,873 on 18 screens, out-performing other titles with the highest per screen average of $15,437. This is especially commendable in a crowded market place where there are 8 new movies opening last weekend.

After 4 days in cinemas, 200 Pounds Beauty is already the top performing Korean movie in Singapore since last year's The Host. The $277,873 opening is also the best opening for any Korean comedy in Singapore for the last 4 years. The highest grossing Korean comedy ever in Singapore was My Sassy Girl with $507,545 box office in 2002.

InnoForm Media and Shaw Organisation are hopeful that the movie will benefit from good word of mouth and march towards the $500,000 box office mark.
