Pleasure Factory nabs Official Selection at Cannes Film Festival

InnoForm Media and Spicy Apple Films are proud to announce that the Ekachai Uekrongtham directed film Pleasure Factory has been chosen as part of the Official Selection at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The movie will be competing in the Un Certain Regard category along with 15 other movies.

The Cannes Film Festival is the biggest and most prestigious film festival in the world, and this year marks the 60th Anniversary of the festival. This year, there were 1,615 films screened by the selection committee for consideration for the festival. The star studded event runs from May 16 to 27 in Cannes, on the French Riviera.

Director Ekachai Uekrongtham says, “We never dreamt the film would make it anywhere, let alone Cannes. I guess the best kind of pleasure comes when you least expect it."

InnoForm Media's General Manager Lim Teck says, "We are very excited that Pleasure Factory is in the running at the Cannes Film Festival. Ekachai has delivered a great film and we at InnoForm are very proud to be involved in this project. This is an important achievement for Singapore-made films and we hope this will be the start of many good things for this movie and the Singapore movie industry as a whole.”

Inspired by true stories and real-life characters, Pleasure Factory tells an intimate, intriguing and seductive tale involving pleasure seekers and pleasure providers in Geylang, Singapore’s very own red light district.

Spicy Apple co-produced the movie with InnoForm Media and the latter holds the film's domestic rights. World sales for international territories is handled by acclaimed and renowned international sales agent, the name of which will be later announced.
