Asian Superstar BoA starts production on new film COBU 3D

Production has begun on the dance love story COBU 3D, which is being directed and written by Duane Adler (screenwriter of two of the highest grossing dance films, SAVE THE LAST DANCE and STEP UP) and produced by Robert Cort (MR. HOLLAND’S OPUS, RUNAWAY BRIDE, SAVE THE LAST DANCE) and Korea’s CJ Entertainment and SM Entertainment. Making their feature film acting debuts, the film stars BoA, Asia’s leading performer and recording artist having sold more than 20 million records in Korea and Japan alone, and Derek Hough, the current reigning and three-time champion of ABC’s Dancing With The Stars, who’s credits include the critically acclaimed starring role in Footloose: The Musical in London’s West End.

A fresh and energized take on the classic romance of star-crossed lovers set in the club-land of New York, BoA and Hough play dancers from different worlds whose Romeo-and-Juliet romance is threatened by the dangerous rivalry between their brothers’ competing clubs in New York City’s underground dance scene.

COBU 3D follows talented young performer Donny (Hough) as he heads to New York to join his brother Nick in running the city’s hottest club –a showcase for the next generation of explosive dancers from around the globe. Donny is blown away when he meets Aya (BoA), an elegant dancer whose sexy moves complement his own, and whose fusion of tap, hip hop and taiko drumming creates a style unlike anything he’s ever imagined. But Aya turns out to be the sister of Nick’s enemy, who owns the rival dance club. As Donny and Aya fall in love, the competition between the brothers intensifies: Donny must choose between the girl of his dreams and loyalty to his brother, and make real decisions for the first time in his life.

Golden Village Pictures is proud to be the distributor of COBU 3D. The film is slated for release in the first half of 2012. Golden Village Pictures is proud to be the Singapore distributor of COBU 3D. The film is slated for release in the first half of 2012.
